The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) legislation was signed into law April 2015, repealing the sustainable growth rate (SGR) for physician fee-for-service (PFS) updates, making changes to the Medicare PFS payment as we know it now, and accelerating a narrow pathway to higher Medicare payments largely through the consolidation and expanded incentive program called Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). The webinar discussed how MIPS would comprise quality-based elements of the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), Value-Based Modifier, and electronic health record (EHR) Meaningful Use for the eligible professional.
